Lafz - Urdu Words and their meanings

Lafz is an opt-in mailing list that will help you build your Urdu vocabulary, one word at a time. Posts are sent through e-mail on Mondays and Thursdays. Each post contains a word from Urdu with its meaning(s), its gender and the language it is borrowed from. Usually associated words like compound words, adjectives, etc. based on the word of the day are also included in the post.

Each post is accompanied by a sher (couplet) which highlights the use of the word in Urdu poetry. Sometimes, couplets (ashaar) for the associated word(s) are also included, depending on availability.

Membership to the Lafz mailing list is free. However, only the moderator can post to the group. This is to prevent the members from receiving unwanted and unsolicited e-mails (also called spam).

Information on how to unsubscribe or change the e-mail address that you have subscribed with are sent in a Welcome e-mail on subscription to the list. You can get the same information by sending an e-mail to moderator@urdupoetry.com with the subject "UNSUBSCRIBE" or "CHANGE EMAIL". You can also automatically unsubscribe by sending an e-mail to lafz-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com. The e-mail must be sent from the e-mail account which is currently subscribed to the list.
