We are back after a brief hiatus. We would like to thank all our
subscribers for their patience. We do owe you all an explanation, so
here it is. It was nothing dramatic or earth shaking. I was just moving.
And THAT, in the US, can be a very exhaustive experience - especially if
you try to do it on your own. Hopefully there shall be no more
interruptions but I cannot guarantee that - the lot of a software
engineer is a trying one!
But, for now, we are back on our feet. So here goes!
Continuing our interrupted session of Qateel Shifai's poetry, here is
our 40th nazaarana:
vo dil hii kyaa tere milane kii jo duaa na kare
mai.n tujh ko bhuul ke zi.ndaa rahuu.N Khudaa na kare
rahegaa saath teraa pyaar zi.ndagii ban kar
ye aur baat merii zi.ndagii vafaa na kare
ye Thiik hai nahii.n marataa ko_ii judaa_ii me.n
Khudaa kisii se kisii ko judaa na kare
sunaa hai us ko mohabbat duaae_N detii hai
jo dil pe choT to khaaye magar gilaa na kare
zamaanaa dekh chukaa hai parakh chukaa hai use
"Qateel" jaan se jaaye par iltijaa na kare
As usual, bouquets and brickbats are welcome, along with your
suggestions.
We would like to recommend the following site to our subscribers:
http://www.geocities.com/~urdu_poet/
It is a site setup in the loving memory of the poet Obaidullah Aleem.
The biography portion is under construction but the visitor can listen
to Aleem's poetry in his own voice, as well as sung by various
well-known singers - Ghulam Ali, Farida Khanum, Noorjehan, to name a
few.
The ghazals are in Real Audio format, and the video clips are in Real
Video format. If you don't have the Real Audio Player, we suggest you
download the same. A lot of audio sites online use Real Audio sound
files, so you might as well get the Player. A link is provided for this
on the audio pages. Very convenient!
The text of his poetry is also available in Urdu, though one will have
to download and install the font to be able to read it.
If and when you do drop in, do sign the guestbook. It is always a
pleasure to hear from visitors. It also lets web-site
administrators/designers like us know that someone is actually going
through what we put up on our sites. (Never fails to amaze me!).
The site is maintained by Qamar Ahmed.
