Today's Gazal is from Jagjit Singh's album Encore. This Gazal is also 
included in the compilation Live with Jagjit Singh. Hoever, I would not 
recommend the Live with Jagjit Singh album to anyone, not even Jagjit 
Singh fans. The mixng is done by Daman Sood and he has made a terrible 
hash of the whole thing. The applause starts even before the sher is 
completed. In some Gazals, he has tried to synchronise the audience 
clapping along with Jagjit Singh's singing with disastrous results. Not 
only is the clapping too loud, it is out of rhythm. 

Anyway, on with today's Gazal...


ishq kii daastaan hai pyaare 
apanii apanii zubaan hai pyaare 

ham zamaane se i.ntaqaam to le.n 
ek hasii.n darmiyaan hai pyaare 

tuu nahii.n mai.n huu.N, mai.n nahii.n tuu hai 
ab kuchh aisaa gumaan hai pyaare 

rakh qadam phuu.Nk phuu.Nk kar naadaan 
zarre zarre me.n jaan hai pyaare
