Hakim Zameer Hasan Khan was a protege
of Ameer Minai. Born in Shahjahanpur in 1875,
his prominent compilations include Nagma-e-dil
and Tarana-e-dil. He passed away in 1959.


miT gayaa jab miTane vaalaa phir salaam aayaa to kyaa
dil kii barbaadii ke baad un kaa payaam aayaa to kyaa

[payaam = message]

chhuT ga_ii.n nabze.n ummide.n dene vaalii hai.n javaab
ab udhar se naamaabar leke payaam aayaa to kyaa

[naamaabar = messenger]

aaj hii miTanaa thaa ai dil hasarat-e-diidaar me.n
tuu merii naakaamiyo.n ke baad kaam aayaa to kyaa

[hasarat-e-diidaar = desire to see]

kaash apanii zi.ndagii me.n ham ye ma.nzar dekhate
ab sar-e-turbat ko_ii mahashar-Khiraam aayaa to kyaa

[turbat = tomb; mahashar = day of judgement; Khiraam = walk (style of)

saa.Ns ukha.Dii aas TuuTii chhaa gayaa jab ra.ng-e-yaas
naamaabar laayaa to kyaa Khat mere naam aayaa to kyaa

mil gayaa vo Khaak me.n jis dil me.n thaa armaan-e-diid
ab ko_ii Khurshiid-vash baalaa-e-baam aayaa to kyaa

[Khurshiid-vash = sun-like face (one's beloved)]
