I was overwhelmed by the response to post #450
where I mentioned that maybe nobody was reading
my posts. :-) Thank you very much for letting me
know I was wrong.

Two items of note:

1) Avinash Chopde, the creator of ITRANS, the 
transliteration scheme I use in my posts as well
as on my website, maintains a mirror site where 
the ghazals can be read in the Devnagri script.

You may see errors caused by incorrect conversion 
and typos on my website but we are working on it.
So please be patient.

Work has started on an attempt to present the 
ghazals in Urdu script also. No promises but if
and when it happens, you will be the first to 
know.

Now on to today's poem. This was sung by Jagjit
Singh in the film Sarfarosh. It is also the first 
ghazal in his album "Together". Thanks to Imran
for sending it in.


hosh vaalo.n ko Khabar kyaa beKhudii kyaa chiiz hai
ishq kiije phir samajhiye zi.ndagii kyaa chiiz hai

un se nazare.n kyaa milii raushan fizaaye.n ho ga_ii.n
aaj jaanaa pyaar kii jaaduugarii kyaa chiiz hai

Khulatii zulfo.n ne sikhaa_ii mausamo.n ko shaayarii
jhukatii aa.Nkho.n ne bataayaa maikashii kyaa chiiz hai

ham labo.n se kah na paaye un se haal-e-dil kabhii
aur vo samajhe nahii.n ye Khaamoshii kyaa chiiz hai
