uljhaav kaa mazaa bhii terii baat hii me.n thaa
teraa javaab tere savaalaat hii me.n thaa

saayaa kisii yaqii.n kaa bhii jis par na pa.D sakaa
vo ghar bhii shahar-e-dil ke muzaafaat hii me.n thaa

[yaqii.n = firm belief/trust; muzaafaat = near by]

ilzaam kyaa hai ye bhii na jaanaa tamaam umr
mulzim tamaam umr havaalaat hii me.n thaa

[ilzaam = accusation; tamaam = entire; mulzim = accused]

ab to faqat badan kii muravvat hai daramiyaa.N
thaa rabt jaan-o-dil kaa to shuruu_aat hii me.n thaa

[faqat = only; muravvat = kindness/benevolence]
[daramiyaa.N = in between; rabt = relation; shuruu_aat = beginning]

mujh ko to qatl kar ke manaataa rahaa hai jashn
vo ziilihaaz shaKhs merii zaat hii me.n thaa

[jashn = celebration; zaat = existence]
[ziilihaaz = worthy of attention/respect(liihaaz ke qaabil)]
