vo saahilo.n pe gaane vaale kyaa hue
vo kashtiyaa.N jalaane vaale kyaa hue 

[saahil = shore; kashtii = boat] 

vo subah aate aate rah ga_ii kahaa.N
jo qaafile the aane vaale kyaa hue 

[qaafilaa = caravan] 

mai.n jin kii raah dekhataa huu.N raat bhar
vo raushanii dikhaane vaale kyaa hue 

ye kaun log hai.n mere idhar udhar
vo dostii nibhaane vaale kyaa hue 

imaarate.n to jal ke raakh ho ga_ii.n
imaarate.n banaane vaale kyaa hue 

[imaarat = building; raakh = ashes] 

ye aap ham to bojh hai.n zamiin kaa
zamii.n kaa bojh uThaane vaale kyaa hue 

[bojh = burden] 

** I wonder if the first misra (line) of the above 
sher should end in 'par', instead of 'kaa'. It would 
be a more elegant construct. Besides, 'bojh' and 
'par' do go hand in hand. "kisii par bojh honaa" is 
commonly used. **
