Today's poem is a very popular nazm by Faiz Ahmed Faiz. This was 
sent in by a MeG subscriber along with an English translation of 
the nazm which I have included:


dasht-e-tanhaa_ii me.n ai jaan-e-jahaa.N larzaa.N hai
terii aavaaz ke saaye tere ho.nTho.n ke saraab
dasht-e-tanhaa_ii me.n ai jaan-e-jahaa.N duurii ke Khas-o-Khaak tale
khil rahe hai.n tere pahaluu ke saman aur gulaab

uTh rahii hai kahii.n qurbat se terii saa.Ns kii aa.Nch
apanii Khushbuu me.n sulagatii hu_ii madham madham
duur ufaq par chamakatii hu_ii qatraa qatraa
gir rahii hai terii dildaar nazar kii shabanam

is qadar pyaar se ai jaan-e-jahaa.N rakkhaa hai
dil ke ruKhsaar pe is vaqt terii yaad ne haath
yuu.N gumaa.N hotaa hai garche hai abhii subah-e-firaaq
Dhal gayaa hijr kaa din aa bhii ga_ii vasl kii raat


Translation:
"Desert of Loneliness"


In the desert of loneliness, oh life of my world!
Shadows of your voice and mirages of your lips are shivering
In the desert of loneliness, oh life of my world!
Under the dead leaves of your absenc, roses of your presence are 
blooming


From somewhere very close The warmth of your breath is rising
Kindling very slowly In its own fragrance.
Far on the horizon Drop by drop
The shiny dew of your glance is falling.


With so much love and tenderness, Oh life of my world!
Your memory has put its hand On the face of my heart.
Even though it's still the morning of separation
It seems that the day of loneliness has passed
And the night of reunion has arrived.
