mai.n unhe.n chhe.Duu.N aur kuch na kahe.n 
chal nikalate jo mai piye hote 

[chhe.Duu.N = to tease; mai = wine]


qahar ho yaa balaa ho, jo kuchh ho 
kaash ke tum mere liye hote 

[qahar = (divine) wrath/fury]


merii qismat me.n Gam gar itanaa thaa 
dil bhii yaa rab ka_ii diye hote 

[gar = if; ka_ii = many]


aa hii jaataa vo raah par 'Ghalib' 
ko_ii din aur bhii jiye hote 

[ko_ii = some (used here as 'kuchh')]
