Today's ghazal is from Farida Khanum's album titled 
'Gulistan' Volume 1. It is a Music Today presentation 
and consists of 6 ghazals:

1. na ga.Nvaao naavak-e-niim-kash (Faiz Ahmed Faiz)
2. tum aur fareb khaao bayaan-e-raqiib se (Aga Hashr)
3. tum naGmaa-e-maah ho (Unknown)
4. jis tarah chaahe.n karam farmaayiye (Unknown)
5. yaa rab Gam-e-hijraa.N me.n (Charag Hasan Hasrat)
6. chaa.Nd nikale kisii jaanib (Firaq Gorakhpuri)

Of these, "yaa rab gam-e-hijraa.N me.n" and "tum aur fareb 
khaao" have already been posted on MeG. Today I will be 
posting one of the two ghazals whose poets are not known 
to me. I am hoping someone will be able to provide me with
the names.

I enjoy listening to Farida Khanum. She usually picks good 
ghazals and most of her ghazals are sung in the original style
of ghazal 'gaayaki'. That is what I enjoy and perhaps that is 
what makes the modern ghazal with light lyrics and too much 
orchestration unbearable to me. 

Today's ghazal has simple words. I hope I can find out who 
the poet is.


tum naGmaa-e-maah ho anjum ho tum soz-e-tamannaa kyaa jaano
tum dard-e-muhabbat kyaa samajho tum dil kaa ta.Dapanaa kyaa jaano

[maah = moon; anjum = star; soz = burning/heat]

sau baar agar tum ruuTh gaye ham tum ko manaa hii lete the
ik baar agar ham ruuTh gaye tum ham ko manaanaa kyaa jaano

taKhriib-e-muhabbat aasaa.N hai taamiir-e-muhabbat mushkil hai
tum aag lagaanaa siikh gaye tum aag bujhaanaa kyaa jaano

[taKhriib = destruction ; taamiir = construction]

tum duur kha.De dekhaa hii kiye aur Duubane vaalaa Duub gayaa
saahil ko tum manzil samajhe tum lazzat-e-dariyaa kyaa jaano

[saahil = shore; lazzat = pleasure/enjoyment]
