davaao.n kii alamaariyo.n se sajii
ik dukaa.N me.n
mariizo.n ke anboh me.n muzmahil saa
ik insaa.N kha.Daa hai
jo ik kuba.Dii sii shiishii ke
siin epe likhe hue
ek ik harf ko Gaur se pa.Dh ahaa hai
magar is pe to zahar likkhaa huaa hai
is insaan ko kyaa marz hai
ye kaisii davaa hai

Moderator's Note:

I will be taking a short break for the next couple 
of days. 22nd November is Thanksgiving holiday here 
in the US. Hope all of you who are in the US and 
Canada have a wonderful holiday. 

Before I sign off, I would like to highlight a couple 
of good Urdu poetry related sites. One is for those 
who can read the Urdu script and one for those who 
prefer Devnagri over transliterated Urdu. 

The first is a very professionally done website 
which showcases not only Urdu poetry but other 
aspects of Urdu literature: http://www.eurdubazaar.com

The second site is Suman Ghai's Shaayarii page 
located at http://www.geocities.com/sumankghai/

The poems here are basically the poems in the Urdu 
poetry Archive (http://www.urdupoetry.com) but in 
Devnagri. You will need to download and install the 
Susha font to read the poems in Devnagri. Directions 
for download and links are provided at the website. 
Suman is also working on an Urdu to Hindi dictionary 
in Devnagri. You can see the work in progress.

And last but not the least, I am currently running 
a poll on how should Urdu poetry be presented on
